El Palmar and the Albufera of Valencia
This village, that was an island in the Albufera until the 1940's,
is undeniably a reference point for whoever wishes to enjoy the
most beautiful sunsets and one of the loveliest landscapes in Valencia.
Only 17 kilometres from the city centre, El Palmar preserves all
the characteristics of a little fishing village, forming a pleasant
community very special in the area.
In this village of 1.200 inhabitants, there are about 30 restaurants,
which at weekends are very busy due to their superb cuisine.
El Palmar celebrates the festivity of the Cristo de la Salud on
4th August by taking an image of Jesus on the cross adorned with
flowers on a procession of 300 boats to the centre of the lagoon.
A sight well worth seeing.
El Palmar is also now the home of Paella, visit one of the numerous
restaurants specialising in rice dishes.
